The book is very easy to understand and lays out good principles to apply for trading. If you like complicated formulas, then this book is not for you. If you like straight forward and easy to understand concepts, then buy this book. It takes time to get good at this methodology. The author recommends at least six months to become good at the principles he teaches. I agree. With patients, you can become as good as the time you are willing to put into it. I highly recommend this book.

The strategies that Dave outlined in his book have proven to be profitable both in trending and sideways markets. It is laidout in a very easy to understand format. One of the unique apects is that there is logic behind the strategies used. This would be a book for both beginners and advanced traders.

Yet another "see here is MY pattern" follow it kind of book. Relies too heavily on ADX and examples from the bubble. Simple to read and understand but hardly something you would want to use with real money. Nothing new here. Save your money.

I have this book sitting next to me as a book end. That's all its really good for.

David writes fairly well and gives nice examples. But the content is basically a beginners guide to swing trading based on the Wilder's ADX indicator tossed in with other technical voo doo. Anyone who puts too much emphasis on a mathematical formula ought to be sent to the funny farm.

Anytime you see someone pretending to be a market guru based on charts from the past and hindsight, beware. Before and after pictures are not where the game is. The game is between your ears.

Save your money.

Please take Mr. Farley's book instead... Master Swing Trader... You'll get much much more..

I have no doubts about Dave Landry's capabilities as a trader. But several about is abilities as an author. This book costs twice as much as Alan Farley's "The Master Swing Trader", but offers not nearly 10% of the content of Alan's book ( not in terms of number of pages, I mean real content )

Unfortunately, I read Alan's book before I bought Dave's. Therefore the less "enthusiastic" rating.

If you want to give Dave's book a try anyway, save some money and drop me a mail.

I thought this was an excellent book. There is nothing outlandish or extraordinary just lots of sound and practical advice on trading in general and the specifics of swing trading.

If I wanted to learn about trading, why would I buy the knock off (DLOST) before I bought the originals (Hit&Run, Hit&Run II)? These patterns are actually Jeff Cooper's patterns spun by Larry Conners and presented by Dave Landry. Frankly, as much as I like Dave's folksy humor and friendly delivery, I know better than to trade watered down patterns when the originals work just fine, if not much better. If you are new to Swing Trading, buy this book to understand what is going on. But when you want to make money, subscribe to the Jeff Cooper Swing Report ($1000 per year) at cooper@barbaricus.com and make sure to use the originals, Hit & Run and Hit & Run II when dealing with patterns.

Disclaimer: I build the Swing Report with Jeff each night, so I'm obviously biased.

This is by far the best book on swing trading on the market today. Its probably one of the best books written about trading period. After spending thousands of dollars on books this is one of the few that I can say i got my moneys worth. Highly Recommended***********
