Trading Signals based only on performance ?

Hi - trying to do a bit of market research. We are about to launch a signals product [ currently doing some market research] and whereas I totally share the natural scepticism about system providers we were thinking of doing it on a performance only related pay structure. Our signals are good and robust / non optimised / curve fit and stretch across equity indices/ fx and futures. We trade them ourselves and are looking at generating a higher income stream [ the truth] and fear that selling signals wont undermine system performance. If people felt that this was a decent product is there any advice they would give us ? thanks kindly in advance c

Chris - many institutional clients won’t tell you how they use your information and it’s even less likely that they will share performance results with an outsider. Performance based pricing is extremely tricky at best. We find it much easier for both vendor and client to provide a simple, flat rate pricing model.

thanks for your comments - I think in this day and age one has to have a track record of making money before people buy signals from you and those signals need to be based on market truths and strategies that have a long history or working i.e. trends , volume, etc

anyway thanks for feedback

My two cents - you need to answer this question - if it works, why do you want to sell it?

Hi Jim - Thanks for your question - good one obviously and one I'd ask.

Income is the main reason - additional income - yes we trade our own signals and yes we make money out of it - but I'll take additional income where I can get it also particularly if it doesn't affect the performance of the systems / signals - I guess its like anything in life - why not sell your strengths ? no crime ?

Hope you appreciate the honesty - I know it can be dangerous to be brutally honest on these forums - but that's it really

best
