Despite what the title might suggest, this isn't a patterns identification and scalping book. Rather, it's based on the strategies that Ed Ponsi used as a prop trader at an institutional desk- usually trend following system with time-frame of weeks to months. The author is quick to admit that he shall solely focus on the technical aspect of trading with this book, and that he has another book on the fundamental analysis of FX. If you had to read just one FX trading book, I'd strongly encourage you to read Ponsi's book. Drawbacks: Some technical tools such as Fibonacci could have been covered more comprehensively and the book is a bit pricey (but well worth it).

Ed makes it simple to understand for the layman and the expert who needs to refresh his thoughts. Just read the book. All the techniques are quite applicable. I believe it's worth it. From break outs to fades etc. He has you covered on trading numerous market conditions.

This is a strategy book, after a brief intro the author launches into one strategy after another, and goes into great detail about each one, and when to use it. He walks through trades on each example, and I think it is telling that he shows some examples where the trades don't work - very realistic. The one area where the author Ed Ponsi really shines is by showing exactly where to enter, exit, and place a stop for each strategy - very specific, none of this murky stuff presented by most authors. Very good book overall.
