Hi to all the community! Since we have just recenlty had Blockchain Week in New York City, I would like to share few thoughts blockhain-in-trading related. Growing number of analysts is expecting that sooner or later financial intermediation will be run on blockchain, including trading services. One common point critics are making when opposing that opinion is that current blockchains have problem in inadequate scalability, i.e. their shortcoming is very small number of transactions they are able to handle (the blockchain Bitcoin is run on is able to perform 4 transactions per second, Ethereum 10 TPS). Therefore, various teams are currently working on bringing solution to this problem and one of them is definitely QuarkChain (https://quarkchain.io/), referred to as possible "Ethereum killer" by many in the business. They are already reaching 2k TPS on their testnet and promising reaching 100k+ TPS by building two-layer architecture using sharding technology. Project is getting very popular, 80% of capital raised in private sale, their promises seem viable, team seems to be skilled enough to deliver, the project is backed by popular VC advisors. What is your opinion on the future of blockchain in algo-trading ? Do you think it is possible to reach thousands of transactions per second (please read QuarkChain WP before answering :-) ) ? Feel free to share your thoughts!
